Say Goodbye to Vibe Magazine

After cutting back on it's circulation this spring, Danyel Smith, Vibe's former Editor-in-chief released this statement: "On behalf the Vibe content staff (the best in this business), it is with great sadness, and with heads held high, that we leave the building today. We were assigning and editing a Michael Jackson tribute issue when we got the news. It’s a tragic week in overall, but as the doors of Vibe Media Group close, on the eve of the magazine’s sixteenth anniversary, it’s a sad day for music, for hip hop in particular, and for the millions of readers and users who have loved and who continue to love the Vibe brand. We thank you, we have served you with joy, pride and excellence, and we will miss you."

The staff was released of their duties this morning and Vibe is closing it's doors effective immediately. Vibe Magazine was launched in 1993 by music legend Quincy Jones.

It's Weird.......but not

I always thought it was kinda weird that people would go thru a significant time of mourning over the death of someone they never met. But I've been quite sad over the death of Michael Jackson. Tho I never met the man, I always felt like he was a part of my life.

The first Video I remember watching as a kid was Thriller, my first on stage performance was in elementary school, when I danced with my Red Jacket, one glove and moonwalked to Billie Jean.

I worked in the fashion industry for a short time and became interested in it because of his Smooth Criminal Video. Every time I went to Aladdins Castle at Northland Mall, one of the first games I would play was Michael Jacksons Moonwalker, I even had it on my Sega Genesis.

But to make a long story short, regardless of what people had said about MJ, he has always been and will remain one of my favorites of all time. Thank You Michael.

I spent the whole weekend listening to old Michael Jackson C.D.s, and I forgot just how many songs that I love and miss listening to. My girls and Listened to "Off The Wall" repeatedly.

At first I was sad...now when I hear a Michael Jackson song I smile, and remember all the videos and music, and great concerts.

You will be missed, but never forgotten.

I'd Rather Talk

Ok so I know texting has become the 'new' way to communicate. But I'm gonna go on record now and say "I DON'T LIKE IT." I don't mind sending/receiving a quick text here and there. The standard "what's up..... wanna eat....what u doin.... how u doin....miss u....don't 4get to... did u make it home" You know, quick in and out type stuff. Maybe I'm too old skool to keep up with this new method of communicating. (wow! never thought I'd say that) When it comes to having a conversation, I'd rather talk!!!!

When I meet a guy, I don't want him to ask me out on a date in a TEXT message. It's ok to text message during the day, because chances are we're both busy. But at some point during the day, PICK UP THE PHONE.

I also don't like when people get so comfortable texting, that when we finally do talk, we have nothing to talk about! Or guys who hide behind the "text" because they don't have the courage to say the things they're thinking or feeling because they feel awkward.

So many things can be misinterpreted in a text. That can all be avoided if you just PICK UP THE PHONE.

I Choose Biggie!!

Tuesday of this week would have been Tupac's 38th birthday! A listener called in and we got into a big discussion about who is was better Tupac or Notorious B.I.G.

After about 15 minutes of arguing, we agreed to disagree. In my humble opinion the better story teller was Biggie! That is not taking anything away from Tupac, but no one then or now tells a story in rhymes like Biggie. Maybe you agree or not...I'm not gonna argue for 15 minutes again on the phone but let me know what you think, call us in the morning!!

My 2Pac Memories

Just like Nia Noelle, I gotta show some luvv to one of my fav rappers/entertainers of all time as yesterday marked what would have been the 38th Birthday for 2Pac

I watching the movie "Nothing But Trouble" and I thought it was "sweet" when Humpty Hump made a special appearance, I knew Humpty, Shock G, Money B, but had no idea who the dude in the NY Yankees shirt was, then he did the last verse in Same Song, but I still didn't know who he was. Then I watched "Juice" and not too soon afterwards saw the video for "Brendas Gotta Baby" and of course "I Get Around".

Tho I never quite understood what Pac was trying to do as one minute he would have a song about honoring God, then the next I would be insulted by his album cover of him on a cross seeming to mock Jesus and my beliefs. I was still a huge fan of his work and I was continually jealous of him when he had the love scene with Janet in Poetic Justice.

If you didn't know Nick Cannon recently took beef with rapper Eminem for talking about his wife Mariah Carey. Eminem has always proclaimed that he and Mariah had a relationship but Mariah has always refuted the rumors. Nick has gone to press about how it's not cool to talk about someone's wife but now Mariah has released a new song called "Obsessed" obviously about Eminem. She calls him everything from crazy, delusional, confused to a liar. Will this be the first rapper singer battle?

Tupac Love

Today marks the day of what would have been the 38th birthday for rapper Tupac. I often wonder as I sit here in the studio day after day playing Soulja Boy, T.I., Hurricane Chris, Flo Rida, Jay-Z etc etc what would Tupac think about hip hop today if he were alive? Would he still be rapping? Or would he set these 'gimmick' rappers straight with some true hip hop?

This year will also mark the 13th anniversary of his death. He is gone but not forgotten.

Crazy Celebs & their hair

First Cassie now Lala!!! I really think that a lot of celebrities get so much money & experiance so many things that they think up crazy things to get attention or occupy their minds for a little moment.

That being said we've all seen Cassie and her half shaven head! I hate it when pretty girls do ugly things! And this is ugly. I'm a big fan of short hair but NOT a big fan of half short half long hair!

So now Lala has decided that she needs attention and has 'remixed' Cassie ugly do into her own ugly do! She posted this on her Twitter page Sunday night. I guess the Lakers game was boring to her. LOL






On another ugly hair moment Cassie has document her ugliest hair do in a music video. I love this song! But I hate that I have to look at her ugly hair for this entire video! LOL And let's not even start on Diddy in this video. I wonder why he won't just admit that Cassie is his boo? Anyway enjoy her new video "Must Be Love"

Franklin County Children Services is holding a talent show at East High School, and I'm one of the judges! I'm so excited! I remember doing my thing at my high school talent show back in the day. (in fact not too long ago) We practiced until we knew the routine in our sleep. Just before we took the stage, we stood in a little prayer circle, holding hands. Moments later we took the stage and nailed it!! Well it at least it felt like it then. Then the judges would call us all back out, we'd stand there again. Holding hands, eyes closed, biting our lips as the emcee said "And the winner is......."

It's kinda funny that I'm on the other end now. I know how much work, practice, and guts it takes to get in front of a ton of people and put yourself out there to be judged. So in my eyes they've already won. Because I know there are a ton of people who would never even be able to even take the stage.

You can come and check out these talented young kids too if you'd like. The talent show is at East High School, doors open at 6:00pm, and admission is free.

Beyonce & Boy George Sing or Lip Sing???

So I found this video of Beyonce in concert with Boy George singing 'If I Were A Boy' But as I was watching it I noticed that Beyonce wasn't really singing she was lip singing. If you watch at about 35 seconds into the clip Beyonce's voice is coming out but she doesn't have the microphone up to her mouth. Hmmmmm can she project her voice like that? LOL I'm not hating but it stinks to pay good money to go to a concert to hear them lip sing. Watch the clip for yourself & tell me if you think she is lip singing

So I'm feelin the new Jibbs and Lloyd joint "The Dedication (Ay DJ)". But, or it could be that I'm glad Jibbs did a song that didn't sound so kindergartenish as chain hang low or any of his other tracks.

I did not attend East High but after seeing the new school it made me proud to be a product of Columbus Public Schools!

Rhianna to Testify

It's official!!! Rhianna has been subpoenaed to testify against R&B star Chris Brown legally requiring her to appear in court June 22nd. The purpose of the hearing is to determine if there is enough evidence to put Chris Brown on trial.

Also Chris Brown's ex girlfriend has came out and said that Rhianna beat up Chris Brown multiple times and this time Chris just had enough. If this is true....BOTH of them are so wrong. Well regardless I think they both need counseling.

Pelham 123

I went to the offical Power 107.5 Sneak Preview of Pelham 123 last night.

Good Movie Overall, worth the ticket price or a trip to your best bootleg........errrr I mean theater.

John Travolta plays a really good and funny bad guy, reminiscent to me of his roles in face off and pulp fiction (especially with the sideburns). This movie is not for the kids, the 2o some year old girl sitting next to me said "wow I think that F*#%* is his favorite word"

Denzell Washington plays a believeable, sometimes comedic but also sometimes boring stereotypical good guy. Though his character was supposed to be very non-chalant, it seemed to me like he was too bland. However he and Travolta do have some suprisingly witty dialogue in the movie

Cinematography was excellent, very cutting edge and state of the art, at times it almost seemed like they were doing too much with all the graphics and special efx.

I think the guy who wrote or directed this movie probably has the entire collection of the Die Hard and Speed series (yes I said Speed series, there was a Speed 2, what you didn't remember that? lol) and watches them over and over again. But I can't talk I just watched Die Hard 1 and 2 both this week.

Summer Summer Time

Well I don't know about you, but....I am already looking forward to my kids going BACK to school!! Their last day of school was last Friday. I wondered how long it would be for the girls to say it and wouldn't you know it they said it yesterday! Those two little words that is supposed to make me feel guilty or something and want to rush them right over to Zoombezi Bay, or Kings Island, or better yet the neighborhood pool. What are those two little words that is gonna drive me crazy this summer?..."I'm Bored!"

So I have decided to answer my daughters screams of bordom with my own little simple summer fix. when I hear them say,"I'm Bored" I am gonna answer right back in song...READ A BOOK, READ A BOOK, READ A &*%$#&*%@IN' BOOK!!

Kimora Lee Simmons Gives Birth

Yet another celebrity is celebrated for giving birth out of wedlock... this time Kimora Lee Simmons.

She gave birth to a healthy baby boy over the weekend. The father is actor Djimon Hounsou. This will be the first child for the unwed couple and the third for Kimora.

Check out the picture Kimora posted on her Twitter page over the weekend as she was going through contractions. Is she wearing lip gloss? Typical model! LOL I wanna see what this baby looks like.

Borat drops in on Eminem.................... literally!!

Many rumors have begun floating as to whether this was a gag that slim shady was in on himself or if this was just a simple accident........... or maybe Nick Cannon was firing back at Eminem for his recent comments about wifey aka Mariah Carey.

After all that Marshall Mathers has done, it would not shock me if he was in on this in order to stir up more publicity, after all his album just came out not even 2 weeks ago yet..............but then again, you'd have to pay me as Luda said "a million fazillion dollars" for a dudes but to be in my face, and then I prob still wouldn't be cool with it.........
