RUN-DMC To Be Honored With Their Own Street !!!

HipHopWired Reports:“The Kings,” Run-DMC was honored yesterday in their hometown of Hollis, Queens as a street renaming and dedication took place in honor of the three. Composed of Joseph Simmons as “Run,” Darryl McDaniels as “DMC” and Jason Mizel as “Jam Master Jay,” the trio is famed for crossing rock and rap in the music industry with hits like “Walk This Way” with Aerosmith. They were inducted, by rapper Eminem, into the Rock ‘n' Roll Hall of Fame in April. A petition was submitted by New York's Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council earlier this year to local councilors in order to create a memory for the legendary Hip-Hop group. Think of it as the hood's version of a Hollywood Star on the Walk Of Fame.Located on the corner of 205th Street and Hollis Avenue, the street will now be dubbed“Run-DMC JMJ Way.” It will be in commemoration of the group's DJ, Jam Master Jay, who was murdered in Jamaica, Queens in October 2002, a case that is still unsolved.Councilman Leroy G. Comrie, a representative for the area of Hollis who sponsored the legislation, noted that McDaniels had contributed memorabilia to the proposed establishment of a Hollis Hip-Hop Museum which was once home to the Hollis Famous Burger.Run-DMC have been pioneers in numerous ways as a rap act including crossing over to world-wide audiences and acting in movies that helped to catapult the genre of Hip-Hop and tore the door down for future acts such as LL Cool J, Ice Cube, 50 Cent, and Nas.In related news, Jam Master Jay's protégé 50 Cent, will be releasing a documentary entitled Two Turntables And A Microphone. The film will dissect Jay's death and celebrate his life and feature interviews with Onyx, Rev-Run, Russell Simmons and others. The film premiered back in June 2008 at the 9th Annual Hollywood Black Film Festival at the Writers Guild Theater.The release of Two Turntables And A Microphone hasn't been determined but is scheduled to hit stores by early next year.

National Real Hair Day

Tyra Banks wants all women, everywhere in the world, with a weave to take it out and rock their real hair on September 8th 2009. She's calling it "National Real Hair Day." Here's a statement she released.....

"This season on The Tyra Show we’re taking it to the next level and getting more real than ever before by encouraging women everywhere to own and rock what they’ve got and be proud!” – she says in a press release obtained by US Magazine. “For the season 5 premiere, I will be doing just that - no fake hair, I’m rocking my REAL hair.”

How many women do you really think will participate in the "Real Hair" round up? If you're like me, and just paid a pretty penny, and sat in the salon for hours to get a weave in your head, you won't be celebrating this one!! You may even decide to protest it.

I think it's a good idea, the whole "loving yourself as you are" thing. But Tyra, next time give us ladies some heads up. Like a least a couple of months, that way we can schedule an appointment to get our 'Real Hair' done and be prepared to rock it!

New Music Monday: Fabolous F/ Jay-Z "When The Money Goes"

District 9

I went to a Sneak Premiere of District 9 last night...........

Good Movie, def worth seeing, especially in theaters....

However, the movie starts out very slow and seemed to take too long to get going, I was pleasantly surprised with the transformation of the lead character, definitely a movie that will keep you guessing.....once it finally starts getting good.

The event that changes the plot however is fairly predictable, you don't know what exactly is going to happen, but you do know (from having seen these kind of movies in the past) that this is where things change.

Again, good movie, worth going to see......however, I don't think you're gonna be disappointed if you wait til it reaches the dollar theater!!

Power Cuts

It's that time of year again!! Parents and kids are getting ready for the upcoming school year. For kids it's pretty simple. All they really have to do is get their minds in 'school mode' and of coarse go to bed and wake up earlier. Parents, on the other hand, have a lot to worry about!! Buying school clothes, school supplies, re-arranging schedules, the list goes on and on. This is where Power 107.5 comes in. We want to take at least one thing off of your 'to do list.' That 'thing' would be a free hair cut or hair style for your child!!

Like Mother Like Daughter

Just when I thought I couldn't watch another reality show, I'm hearing whispers of a brand new one! The show will be a Tiny and Toya spin off, and will follow Tiny and Toya's daughters! That right! This could mean more 'hard to understand English', which equals more subtitles.

I don't know about you, but I love watching TV and reading at the same time. My only problem is, the subtitles are only used during PART of Tiny and Toya show. So, I usually take matters into my own hands, and turn on the closed caption. That way I know every single word they're TRYING to say. Then the show kinda makes sense.

If the rumors are true, the 'spin off' show will allow us to watch Tiny and Toya's daughters as they form their very own music group called OMG Girls. I mean how bad could the show be? Well, if they're anything like their mama's........ who knows, the show could very well be my new guilty pleasure.

Who said white people can't dance???

There's is an old wives tail that white people cannot dance...well I have video proof that it just isn't true. Check it out! Not only can this white girl dance but she got it down for my Caribbean people! Holla!

PMC gets Bamboozled

The PMC had the "honor" of interviewing Karrine Steffans a few weeks ago. During the interview Superhead talked about being happily married to Darius McCrary a.k.a Eddie Winslow and having two kids. As soon as we finished the interview, I blogged about "things just not adding up" and something seeming 'fishy' about her story.

Two weeks later, to the day.....here I am again blogging about Superhead. However, this time, I'm writing more about her 'husband.' Darius/Eddie released a video denying that he and "that woman" (as he affectionately calls her) have never been married or engaged. According to him, Karrine made all this stuff up to "sell books". Which is the reason we had her on our show! In the video, he said, they did date, and that he tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Eddie wanted to explore his 'wild side,' a decision he now regrets.

While we were on the phone with her, she bragged about how great their marriage was, and how she and Darius had plans to write a book together!! And we believed her!! Well Paul and Konata did. But then again those boys believe anything~

Kimora shows off her family

Kimora has finally released exclusive pictures to OK Magazine of her new family including baby Kenzo who was born in May. I don't know who this baby looks like. But I think it will be fun to see how his looks evolve as he grows. Kenzo is Kimora's third child along with Ming, 9 years old and Aoki, 7 years old.

Girls Night Out!

Okay, On Mondays show Misty told us that she spent the weekend in Toronto, Canada. She talked about all the fun she had with her friends and how she loves the night life in Toronto.

Misty downloaded some pictures on my computer and I wanted to share one with you. I just don't think she remembered taking this one...but believe me I have seen her feet many times before in the studio and she can not deny that this is HER foot! DAMMMMNNNN!

I was excited, when I found out they made a transformers movie........BUT..... I felt like a Choir boy who got to look at an issue of playboy for the 1st time when I found out they were making a GI Joe movie (ok so maybe it wasn't that big of deal) but you feel me.....

The Movie opens this Friday, but for some reason Paramount will not be providing an advanced screening for movie critics?

Hmmmmm.......I hope this isn't more disappointing than being that same Choir boy and realizing that it's the senior citizens issue.

So Chris Rock's daughter came to him one day & asked 'Daddy why don't I have good hair? So Chris being the father that he is went out to find an answer & now has turned it into a money making project. Go ahead & get that college tuition set up for the babies Chris.

You knew when Mariah's new video "Obsessed" came out with that Slim Shady look-a-like in it, and Mariah and Nick denying that is was supposed to be Eminem, There would be repercussions. Eminem has built a career out of dissin' people...including his own mother, and the mother of his daughter. So why does Mariah want to mess with FIRE?

Oh, and Nick Cannon, I know she is your wife and everything, but when you get involved Eminem is going to go at you as well. If you haven't heard Em's new song, "The Warning" you have to check it out. I don't know if I feel sorry for Mariah and Nick, play with fire...your gonna get burnt!!

Rapper Drake had knee surgery yesterday to repair a torn ligament that he suffered Friday night in New Jersey during Lil Wayne’s "Young Money Presents America's Most Wanted Music Festival" tour. Drake collapsed when he tried to spin while dancing. He was rushed backstage and medics treated him on the tour bus. Drake immediately went on Twitter to reassure his fans. He tweeted: "All is well... on the bus laying down... getting surgery this week, but I'm walking."

Before this injury, Drake already had a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and doctors had advised him no to perform for a while. So, instead of doing his entire 30-minute set on the tour, Drake decided to make cameo appearances in each city, rocking the mic with Weezy and performing his hit, “Best I Ever Had.” But those few minutes onstage Friday night in New Jersey were enough to mess Drake up. Lil Wayne has asked fans to keep Drake in their prayers.

Another Loss to Hip Hop

Sadness has fallen on the Hip Hop world today as news broke about the passing of Slum Village rapper Baatin. The cause of death isn't being reported yet but a few years back Baatin had to stop performing with the group due to illness.

Drizzy Drake Bizzy Break

So if you were like me, you watched this year's BET awards wondering why newbie rapper Drake did his entire show sitting on a stool. Well days later I found out that Drake hurt his ACL. I don't know if you've ever had a knee injury but they are no joke! Especially an ACL injury.

So I've been told that Drake was told to stay off his feet while he recoups. But Drake not wanting to disappoint his fans he has recently been on his feet during his shows.

Last night in Camden NJ Drake had a show with Lil Wayne & he reinjured his knee stunning everyone including Lil Wayne. Watch the video...
